Research Interests
|
Since joining CDI in 1983, Dan has been directly involved in the research, development and implementation of rotorcraft computer analysis software including the
family of EHPIC, EHPIC/HERO, CHARM and MAST analyses. Dan has spearheaded the computer programming effort associated with upgrading and integrating these codes
to study numerous problems including: rotor design optimization, high fidelity rotor airload prediction, rotor acoustic prediction, rotorcraft interactional
aerodynamics, multiple aircraft wake interaction modeling, coaxial and ducted rotor design, and most recently, rotorcraft brownout modeling. Dan led
the development of CDI's CHARM real-time free wake module that in the past few years has been implemented in rotorcraft analysis and flight simulation
software throughout the government and industry. Dan recently served on the American Helicopter Society Aerodynamics Committee.
