  • Joined CDI in 1988
  • Five years in CAD/CAM software design for spacecraft applications 1983-88
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Rutgers Univ. 1983
Research Interests
Mr. Curbishley plans and manages the company's computer systems and networks, and develops computer software, with primary emphasis on graphics, user interface and control. He developed the user interface and control software for the "Autohaler" robotic inhaler testing system. Field tests to his credit include aerial agricultural spray tests for the Forest Service, wake characterization of F-4, F-15, and F-16 jet aircraft, the investigation of aerodynamic download reducing methods for tilt-rotor aircraft using Princeton University's 4' x 5' wind tunnel, the testing of vortex-trapping panels on a tractor-trailer in the NASA Ames' 80' x 120' wind tunnel, and meteorological data acquisition for studies conducted by the Spray Drift Task Force, a group concerned with agricultural spray drift. He has also played a key role in the development and maintenance of several of CDI's aerial spray drift models - e.g., FSCBG, AGDRIFT, FJSIM, and CJSIM - and has led development of graphical user interfaces for CDI's aerospace design and analysis tools - e.g., LDTRAN and CHAFF. His recent work has included support and test direction for numerous experimental studies of advanced debris strainers for nuclear power plant applications.
